hermanm
Hi, if I want to use multiple web seed sources (e.g. two different web servers), how do I fill the web seed field?Do I put the root URL, carriage return, then the next root URL? Or can they stacked?Like this? http://first.domain.com/http://second.domain.com/Or like this?http://first.domain.com/http://second.domain.com/
GTHK
My last test worked with a dozen addresses "stacked", but this was a single file torrent.
hermanm
I see. Most of the torrents I webseed would be multi-file torrents.
GTHK
I think it'll work, I used stacking in a multi-file.. admittedly I was direct linking each of the files but still, it worked stacked
hermanm
Yeah, you can't do with multi-file torrents because µTorrent will append the folder structure (if any) and then file name to whatever URL you have in the list. I guess I'll try have to experiment.
GTHK
"can't do with"? Don't forget to account for the name being appended. Also, that direct linking DID work somewhat for me, due to something of a bug :/ My point being that stacking should work fine so long as the address+name is correct. thelittlefire
I'd think if stacking you'd need to follow the order of the torrent file... if you're not simply using a root path on the HTTP server.
hermanm
Hey GTHK, stacking works fine. I just put two webseeds on a multi-file torrent and both web seeds are working perfectly.
GTHK
hermanm, just main folders right? Not direct links to files? You're not actually supposed to direct link, at least not in the 1.8 beta as it would hash fail at the shared pieces between files. I asked for direct linking to be made to work correctly, rather then scrapping it since it's not in the getright spec. I don't know if it was actually done though.Note to self, try later. hermanm
> Not direct links to files? Correct. Like I said before, on multi-file torrents, you will receive 404 errors in your web server logs. To date, I have not web seeded single file torrents, so you are the expert there. Here's a tip: in the beginning using Initial-Seed will utilize the web server more quickly. Otherwise, you have to exceed your max peer per torrent setting before the web seeding kicks in.
