mg1
The downloaded file does NOT go where I have directed, the desktop, and I have to hunt around for where the file ended up. Plus, after uTorrent has operated, on an intermittent basis, my DSL speed absolutely crashes to almost nothing but the speed resumes to normal when I stop the uTorrent program from ANY access. thelittlefire
General tab, Save As tells you where uTorrent put the DATA... even if you saved the TORRENT to the Desktop, you need to set preferences to Desktop so they go there automatically or use Ctrl-D on load. Press F1 to see the manual.
mg1
I hate to sound like a DA...but in uTorrent, in the "preference" tab under "directories",I have the "Location of download in" set to a folder on my desktop, and "Location of torrents" set to the same folder. Is this what you are referencing? thelittlefire
So where does Save As in the General tab say uTorrent saved your stuff?
mg1
I may be looking in the wrong place or different version...but there is no "Save As" in the General Tab in Ver 1.8.My DSL download rate is SLASHED from 3.0mb to 450k when uTorrent is running. I would appreciate any setting changes (bandwidth??) that might help. I have my upload speed set at 384K on the speed guide.thanks,.....

Firon
You're probably saturating your connection. http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992#p258231

Switeck
2nd link in my signature. You should not use settings faster than your connection's sustainable upload, which is probably a tiny fraction of your download max.
DreadWingKnight
And provide the requested information from the troubleshooting thread.
mg1
I made sure all settings were as recommended in the 1rst and 2nd links...not sure what the 3rd and 4th are referring to. When uTorrent is active, the download speed is 450kbps and not the 3.0Mbps when utorrent is NOT active.
Switeck
If you run a speed test while uTorrent is actively downloading and uploading, of course the speed test should get far lower results...that bandwidth is ALREADY in use. What's your connection's upload bandwidth max? What settings are you using in uTorrent, as shown by Speed Guide (CTRL+G)? thelittlefire
4Mbit means the ABSOLUTE maximum you can theoretically get is 512KiBps, usually people are limited around 450-480.
mg1
My normal upload is 240 kbps...settings:Upload limit 22 upload slots3connections 35 connections global 60 Maximum active
