Jiminius
Hello all, my Utorrent likes to hang after a few minutes running whether downloading or not. When it hangs (not responding) I cannot get windows task manager to close it even if I go to the process tab and end it from there. The only way for me to close the program is to restart my computer and not run it anymore. It used to work until a few weeks ago when it started doing that all of a sudden. I didn't change any settings or anything so I have no idea what went wrong. I've reinstalled it several times with no luck. I am running Windows XP. I am using a Netgear router that is configured properly and Utorrent runs fine on other computers on my network just not on the problem PC.If you need anything else let me know. thelittlefire
.. That's pre-release --- 2008-07-16: Version 1.8 RC4 (build 11468) please either update to the stable 11813 or 1.8.1 beta from http://utorrent.com/download.php The only thing I'm wondering about is Symantec, and regarding network dropouts your OneCare firewall... Jiminius
I dont use symantec, I'm wondering that too. I'm actually using 11813. I looked up the version from an old install file. What problems could onecare cause?
thelittlefire
Well, The problem causing internet connectivity failures relates to uTorrent not detecting when it ACTUALLY it at the limit for the OS, which causes a backlog... a firewall could cause it to happen more often. Note I'm not saying this is the case or a way to work around it WERE IT the case... Never used OneCare. It's just an idea.If you don't use Symantec AV... you have some spiffy mal/ad/bad-ware which is masquerading as it. Yeah, your current build would be under Alt-H-A.Hmm, then I'd try lowering net.max_halfopen in Ctrl-P > Advanced from 8 to 4, and if that still doesn't work, try updating to 1.8.1 beta like I mentioned above
Firon
You do have Symantec, or at least the remnants of it. Run the Norton Removal Tool and clean up your system.
Jiminius
I have removed symantec and it works fine now. I'm not sure why it stopped working all of a sudden but at least its fixed! thanks for the help
