Lord_Mew Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 well, a few weeks ago I was having speed Issues, like seen on speed test 84MB of download when I actually only have 4MB, anyway I fixed that by formatting and reinstalling everything. now the speed test tells the truth, now for the problem, utorrent isn't downloading, it connects to the tracker, get's the scrape info, but that's all, sometimes it downloads... at 0.8Kb/s - 15Kb/s, so far I have tried everything on the guides hereI properly forwarded my router and that didn't work so I enabled the port UPnP mapping so utorrent sets it automatically, I log on to the router and see the forwarding properly done.when I check the utorrent forward test it says its properly done... 3 seconds later it says it isn't... and once again it says it isn't.... I'm pretty much pissed so far, I've been forced to use IMAGESHACK to download the torrents, YES! Imageshack!!!!anyway, I checked the windows firewall and utorrents is allowed and I even did it manually afterwards just to be sure... nothing changed, I added the port to the exception and nothing changed, sure it downloaded for at least 3 minutes then dead, the warning icon goes from green to yellow to nothing.now as for my inforouter:Ovislink Airlive Wirelless Router WL-5404AR (wired connection) OSWindows XP SP3 (suspicious about the SP3, I'm not trusting to much on the windows "update" )ConnectionCable internet 4MBps down, 512KBps upwhat else can I say... I tried looking with the TCPview and all the connections from utorrent were only SYN_Sent and only 1 was established... from port 0 to myself...I think that's all, please give me a solution ^^
Firon Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 Have you tried connecting directly to the modem?
Lord_Mew Posted September 27, 2008 Author Report Posted September 27, 2008 I tried and there was no change, it kept saying port is not forwarded properly so my guess so far is that something is either wrong with the computer, ethernet card, OS or in the worst case Modembut I'm pretty sure is either the computer or the OS, since I tried changing from wired to wirelesss and it was the same, slow or no speed...I'll be dammed, it started downloading from the RSS feed... at 5Kb/s, still it does that from time to time but it doesn't mean anything, in the 2 hours that the client has been running the highest achieved speed has been 6, and that's in the last hour

Lord_Mew Posted September 27, 2008 Author Report Posted September 27, 2008 I'll be dammed... I disabled the Guard and forced a download that took almost 3 or 4 hours to reach 3% and it started inmediately... guess I'm gonna have to find myself another antivirus, any recommendations?[edit] Tested the port with antivir guard disabled and everything is working as it once used to be, strange that antivir is interfering now, before there was no problem with it... well I'm downloading almost at full speed now and even the navigator sped up as well. Thanks for your help, I guess I will have to find another antivirus that doesn't interfere with utorrent since antivir doesn't seems to have a configuration panel for this sort of things
Firon Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 Does the Guard function disable the entire AV?And uh, you can try out AVG.
Lord_Mew Posted September 27, 2008 Author Report Posted September 27, 2008 the guard disables the active monitoring, like live scan and stuff like that, but I can still call for the main program, but no worries I looked deeper in configuration and found a place where I can add processes for the program to exclude from the guard so I reactived it and the speed hasn't dropped, the port hasn't closed nor am I getting time outs from the trackers.[Edit]Starting to feel like the boy that cried Wolf... okay I the antivirus disabled and apparently since last nights download festa, 1 hour later all the download went to hell and it hasn't downloaded anything since, so I'm back to the same problem... how do I check if there's an IPfilter in the way, just in case cause the other choice would be that the router or the network is at fault, but everything else works, IRC works, HTTP downloads obviusly work, FTP connections work, only utorrent is the one working when it feels like it I even tried to use azureus against all I believe... complete waste of time (and by that I mean all the 20+ pages of configurations I had to go thru to even add a torrent).[Edit2] Updated my Explorer from 6 to 7 and properly configurated it... now the torrents are working, not that happy since I had to intall IE7, but what the hell, I can download once again... for today at least[Edit3] Mystery has been solved... I'm the victim of extreme traffic shaping, my F***ing ISP (VTR) apparently started with the extreme shaping just recently, and how do I know... simple, after 0:00am until 12:00pm my speed goes from a freaking 10kb/s to a whooping 200+Kb/sin other words I'm screwed and the forced encryption on utorrent isn't able to overcome it so I'm forced to use imageshack during the day and let my computer go wild during the night... although it should be backwards but there's no helping it anymore
