justbrowsing
I'm a long time user of utorrent. When I upgraded to the latest version I noticed that my bandwidth settings for upload limiting are ignored. It alway runs at max speed. I now notice that all the directory settings are ignored also. The program is downloading properly, the preferences settings are just ignored. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but no luck. For example, new downloads are set to go into F:\Temp, but they are going to C:\Documents and Settings\...I search the registry for left-over settings but no luck.Build 11813
thelittlefire
uhh, that's not a full path. SYSTEM_DRIVE\D&S\USERNAME\My Documents\Downloads is used when you don't have a directory set.
justbrowsing
The path I set in the preferences UI is F:\Temp with the "Put New Downloads In:" box checked above it. The next line down with Move downloads box checked is F:\Downloads\TorrentsI just noticed that when the download was done it did get moved to the Torrents folder on F:, so I'm wondering, will the check box at the bottom: "Only move from the default download directory" over ride my "New Downloads" location setting? Also, I notice that it was my error on the bandwidth settings. I think the settings have been reversed compared to my last version. The lower bandwidth setting was on the bottom (as in, "use this lower setting while downloading") and now it is on the top with the override value on the bottom when NOT downloading. I switched them and it seems to be working now.Update:Ok, I just did a test and found that checking the "Only move from the default download directory" does override the user setting for new files location. I unchecked that box and now it is using my settings. Problem solved.Thanks.
thelittlefire
Uhm, you set the (default) download path in preferences... Please provide a picture it should already be working the way you think. Setting the completed folder AND enabling "only default directory" means if you DON'T save the torrent data in the default download path, it won't be moved. Is that what you meant? justbrowsing
What I'm saying is in the Directory settings of the Preferences dialog, the top section is "Location of Downloaded Files"There are two boxes to enter different download paths. One is for the file WHILE it is downloading and the other is the location to move the file AFTER the download is finished (if the check box is selected to move it). Below the second path location there is a check box that says: "Only move from the default download directory". If that box is checked, the program will not use the path I have entered in the top box for my temporary downloading folder. It uses some other path on my C: drive. I don't know where that setting is, but I don't really care since I'm not going to use that setting now I know what it does. Does that make sense? (I don't know how to add a screen shot to this). thelittlefire
I don't know why it would use the default path... What you're saying SOUNDS like you added the torrent before there was a specified folder there. And indeed, your understanding of the Directories pane is correct. When you check the box below the completed folder UNLESS the torrent matches the currently downloading path, it will NOT automatically be moved when completed. To link pictures, use [noparse][/noparse]... You can use any imagehost on here, I for instance use http://imageshack.us and on the upload page you even see "bbcode for forums"
Firon
Only new torrents will use the default download dir. Also, check that you didn't check automatic uploading.
