had serious speed problems for past week now.

after installing service pack 3 download speed shrunk from 600kbs to 3kbs max.

have green light. speed tests ok.so i reinstall windows updated and still had speed problem.

then i tried a different computer with all same settings and antivirus the same as other computer but only difference it doesnt have sp3 update installed and hey presto download speed back up to 600kbs is this wierd or what....

also forgot to add tried different torrent client aswell on both computers with same results......

maybe microsoft is getting nasty?

If you happen to be using a half open connection limit greater than 8, that alone can partially explain your problems.

uTorrent v1.8 has a serious problem with its half open connection limit handling, even at 8.

The latest v1.8.1 beta should have that cleared up, so try it.

thanks for replies but i have tried beta version on both computers with same results

i.e.

windows xp

service pack 3

mcafee total protection

running utorrent 1.8.1 beta

download speed 3kbs max

tried azureus and got same speed

2nd computer from same router

windows xp

service pack 2

mcafee total protection

running utorrent 1.8.1 beta

download speed 600kbs max

tried azureus and got same speed...

therefore i dont see how changing settings would make any difference as

this shows service pack 3 has done something to speeds.

any suggestions.................please

Sounds like uTorrent doesn't have full permissions on the Win XP SP3 box...either in the firewall or hard drive rights. :(

What settings are you using in uTorrent?

(The ones shown by Speed Guide CTRL+G and any advanced settings changes.)

Helps to know how fast your connection's upload speed is to know if they're bad.
