keithyb
I have been using UTorrent (under Vista) for some time, but this morning, double click the desktop icon and whilst I see the icon in the taskbar, I can't open up the window to see what's going on.Tried restarting and am now running v1.8, but still nothing.I can see the upload/download status when I hold the mouse over the taskbar icon, but when I click on hide/show utorrent, nothing happens.I can't see progress or when one is complete.I have searched this forum, but can't find the same problem. thelittlefire
You know where your uTorrent runs from right? Try Start > Run > "path\to\utorrent.exe" /BRINGTOFRONTLaunch arguments c/o http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=34293
Firon
Do you have multiple monitors? Can you post a HijackThis log?Try upgrading to 1.8.1 RC, and maybe even delete settings.dat and .old from %AppData%\uTorrent.
keithyb
I have just changed my monitor, but it has been working on this monitor (It is a bigger monitor with a higher resolution).I also have it hooked up to a LCD TV.I will install the 1.81 version.I tried the bring to the front, but that doesn't help.I can see the icon in the taskbar and a larger icon, on the taskbar, but where I can normally right click to bring it up, I can't now.I can't exit it without using Task Manager to end process. If the 1.81 version doesn't work, I will download Hijack it and see what that says. Thanks both.Update: the 1.81 is no better. What I have noticed, is when I click hide/show, a dark line comes in from the edge of my monitor for a moment. Wierd.
Firon
Turn off extending your display for a moment.
Tensk
Hummm, I think your utorrent window is there, but somehow it's gone off the window (that weird dark line on the edge of the monitor seems to be one of utorrent's edge). To probe it's that way, just a couple of things:- Have you tried to right-click on it's taskbar "entry" and chosen "Maximize"? It should make utorren appear "from nowhere" (actually from that edge if I'm right) and occupy your whole screen. It also works with right-click and the pressing "x" (the letter on the keyboard, not de X for closing xD).- If that's it and it shows up, I guess that, when you de-maximize the window, it will disappear again, so, just go to your screen properties (right-click on the screen where there's nothing else and clicking on properties, I guess you know all this), and change your resolution for any other "bigger" than what you have now if possible. The trick is having more actual workspace on your screen, so at least you will have some of the utorrent window there. You'll just have to move it to the right and restore your preferred screen configuration, maybe also your icons..., and that's it.If that doesn't work, you could try and see if that line on the edge allows you to put the mouse cursor over it and it changes to the <-> shape, so you can extend it.Let us know. keithyb
Thanks all for your advice. It is now working ok.I think what may have made the difference was that I had changed my desktop config. to dualview in Nviia control panel so I could specify a different resolution on my TV.I tried watching something on TV via the pC last night and it didn't work, so I went back to cloneview and had to re-do the resolution on my desktop etc. and now everything is back. Thanks again for all the helpful advice.Just a word to tensk, I had tried right clicking the icon on the taskbar, but was getting no response whatever. I would have expected maximise, restore, close etc. but got nothing.Still, all's well now.
Tensk
keithyb, it's just that what was happening to you was, more or less, what has happened to me with some other applications a few times, and it's always (as far as I've experienced) solved with changing the screen resolution. The matter is that, having dual view or so, maybe it's a bit more complicated.Congratulations.
