samdxx Posted October 5, 2008 Report Share Posted October 5, 2008 Hi on looking at other posts of where downloading takes ages, i have changed over to the new uTorrent 1.8.1, all my settings are correct except now when i download something and i checked my port is comes up with this message Error! Port 10944 does not appear to be open.I have looked on the help page about locating my router name but it is not listed and as a complete beginner I do not know what to do now.Can anyone help.Sam Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Switeck Posted October 5, 2008 Report Share Posted October 5, 2008 Does a router by the same company appear on www.portforward.com on their routers page?If so, does any of them have a similar menu to yours?Check www.portforward.com on their routers page for your modem -- many modems now have mini-routers and/or firewalls hidden in them that need to be configured or disabled.Lastly, you may also have a software firewall program on your computer -- even antivirus and antispyware includes them now.On a different subject...Your ISP (Carphone Warehouse Broadband Services -- which possibly resells to AOL and others) turned completely hostile recently:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=46778 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
