ETA update

ETA can be calculated by taking into account the average download speed instead of the current speed. that will be more accurate. uTorrent should get an idea about the connection speeds general patterns or average speed for the past 5 mins or so. Then the ETA will be more accurate

That's why it's so unaccurate now? I'm partially kidding but it's kind of strange when in utorrent 1.8.1 (built 12639) you're downloading any series episode (in the 350 MB's kind of size), at 50 KB/s and it's says it will take you about a year and a half to download, which I think it won't... I think the ETA is something so hard to really be certain with that maybe the "that's the speed now, so that's the ETA" maybe will be the "less bad" approximation IMHO.

Well... I'm not saying I disbelieve you, unfortunately if your ETA says that, there is a bottleneck, perhaps the initial seeder hasn't finished creating more seeds yet? You're free to upload an example picture, but censor inflammatory text please if you do. Highlighting the Peers tab and showing the torrent in the main torrent pane with the ETA column is the best way I can suggest showing your torrent swarm's "health".

Ufff, just before watching your message I had a torrent downloading at about 25KB/s and it said it would take about one year and a half to download. Now it says "infinity" but it's because it has gone down the speed to 0.1 (just one seed for this torrent, and I'm not connected to it, there're another three thousand peers connected). Now goes for 4.5 KB/s and says it will take between three years and "forever"...

OK, I know the peers just have about 27,6% of the file downloaded at its most (you know, when all peers have shared their downloaded parts but the only, and original, seeder is so damn slow it takes a long time for it to upload it), but when those peers share with me what they (directly or not) have got from the seed (since I never get to the seeder), that should make the ETA be reduced. Even at an average speed of 0,1 KB/s, those 626MB I have left to download should be here in no more than 76 days, and the average speed until now has been 3.1 (250 MB in 22h23m), which would make it take about less than two days and a half more.

I just don't know xD.

Logically I'm sure your math makes sense.. Unfortunately due to the speed of the seeder, given a long enough down-time for sending pieces... the sliding average approaches zero... and anything divided by zero :P

Perhaps you can check the piece size, the site where the torrent was uploaded, thank the uploader and suggest a smaller piece size next time due to their limited upload. Many people just use defaults, and sometimes depending on the torrent creator, they don't make sense. I personally like more pieces to see an update faster, but it can get tedious on very large torrent contents (the size which made uTorrent crash after piece 65535 ) hehe
