Konata Izumi
Hi. I'm running Windows XP, and I've been using uTorrent for a while. But recently, whenever it's open, uTorrent will, at random times, freeze my entire system. I can't do anything at ALL. No mouse, no Alt Ctrl Delete, nothing works. I have to manually shut my computer down by holding the power button. It's gotten to the point to where I can hardly download anything at all, let alone run uTorrent. I'm sure there've been problems like this but I'm sick and tired of it happening. It's getting extremely annoying. If I need to provide any kind of information I will, please specify what kind of information I need, and if I need a program to run diagnostics to obtain said information, I'll install it. thelittlefire
AVG?? Nooooot possible. How are you connecting to your internet and what kind do you have... have you checked to see if you have failing RAM or a hard disk controller? Konata Izumi
...Should I disable AVG while running it, or something? I've been able to run AVG and still have uTorrent open without it crashing, though.I'm connecting through Internet via Local Area Connection. And no, no failing RAM disks. Tanooki
I'm getting the exact same problem. I'm running a brand new hard drive with a legit freshly installed xp pro with no antivirus currently.
Konata Izumi
...Yeah, me too. XP Pro anyway. If it means anything, I downgraded from Vista to XP but I don't see how that'd matter...
thelittlefire
Not what I mean. But I'll have to go from there. OK, so you have your "Local Area Connection" in network places. What kind of connection is it? Are you connecting via a CAT5 cable? USB cable?Tanooki.. you want help in this thread, do what Konata Izumi did, post a HiJackThis logfile. Konata Izumi
...Haha. Whoops, sorry. I meant to say I have a wireless connection, using a wireless USB adapter...sorry.
thelittlefire
OK... yeah see if you can find updated drivers. USB internet is bad.. especially with filesharing taxing the networking stack. It's not necessarily the problem of the device you use, or your wireless router... if you can't find more update drivers, see if changing your Ctrl-G settings to something DRASTICALLY low, like 20 connections total still freezes the computer :/
Konata Izumi
Yeah, no updated drivers for this thing. I've used uTorrent before with the exact same wireless adapter, same network... And I haven't had this problem before. Maybe it has to do with me using XP now, or something. Regardless, it's possible for me to get LAN, so do you think doing that would solve the problem? thelittlefire
Yeah, connecting wired would be much better :/One thing you can try first... is to disable DHT. It may solve the problem so you can use the USB dongle.
