WendyBee
Yesterday Verizon DSL decided to upgrade. I have a wireless modem model 327W.My system was down for a few hours whilst Verizon did the upgrade. Since I went back online I haven`t been connectable. I even to a different port in port forwarding 22730 - 22734. I added the ports to the exceptions on my firewall....still nothing!!!I`d truly appreciate any help or advice.Thank you.Wendy xx
Firon
Which software firewall do you use? Same for antivirus.Assuming you've already upgraded to 1.8.1 stable. you may need to clear out all rules and exceptions for utorrent, reboot, then recreate them for the new version. WendyBee
Wow that was a fast reply. ThanksI`m using Threatfire antivirus same as before when I was connectable. I`ve done everything I`ve always done before. I don`t know of it has anything to do with the upgrade from Verizon yesterday, but it can`t be a coincidence surely.I have SP2...SP3 screws up my PC
Firon
Have you tried uninstalling Threatfire to see if it's the problem? It'd be easy enough to reinstall if it didn't help.Is your modem also a router? The upgrade may have reset the settings in it, so you'd need to redo any port forwarding in it. WendyBee
Yes my modem is also a router. I changed all my ports yesterday and I`m still have the same problem. And because I`m not connectable, my upload speed whilst seeding is only 4.4 kbps....usually it`s 60+I just uninstalled Threatfire, reinstalled and rebooted. Still nothing.I have Windows XP ProLast night I even called Verizon, but they refuse to help with anything related to ports.
Firon
Setup a static IP for your machine. Make sure the IP is outside of the DHCP range, as some routers won't forward the port otherwise.http://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htmThen try redoing your forwarded port. http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm
WendyBee
I set up a static IP, and it worked like a dream...I had a green check mark instantly. Then I noticed I couldn`t get online, so I rebooted. Still couldn`t get online. I did a system restore from Monday, rebooted again and now it works perfectly. Thanks so much Firon - you`re a life saver.Wendy
