indiagenie
Hi,Utorrent 1.8 (and now 1.81) seems to be unable to go beyond 30 kbps of TOTAL download speed, irrespective of the fastest and most widely distributed torrents. If I switch one download off, the others speed up to the extent of the total reaching 30 kbps again but not beyond that.It does not matter how many downloads are active OR uploads are working. The total download speed does not go beyond 30 kbps. The network topology is Phone line > Paradyne ADSL2+ bridge/modem > Belkin Wireless G router > My IBM ThinkpadISP - TSTT, Blink broadband, Trinidad & TobagoTroubleshooting attempted so far -Network hardware - 1.Rebooted both modem & router2.Swapped network cables3. Used a wired connection to wireless router4. Connected directly to the modem6. Got the router replaced with the same model5. Firmware on both modem and router is the latest (both were bought in September)Network configuration -1. Disabled NAT on modem2. Disabled firewall on modem3. Disabled firewall on router4. Put router on modem's DMZ5. Put my computer on router's DMZ after assigning it a static IP outside of the DHCP range of the router6. Set modem in PPP extension mode. The router get the external ISP provided IP address and gateway. This, to my mind, makes my configuration almost like a 1 networking device config and eliminates doublenatting problems.7. I also asked my ISP to turn off the firewall on my account, which they did. I know they did it because only after that did Utorrent start showing the green tick at the bottom.8. DHCP - Enabled on modem <moot point since its now in "bridge" mode to the router. Enabled on the router< moo point since Laptop has a static IP outside the router DHCP range>9. Port - Forwarded port 40720 manually in router to static IP of my laptop.Operating System (Windows XP/SP3) -1. Disabled firewall (for a short duration to check, no improvement)2. Removed and recreated exception in Windows ICF manually for Utorrent3. Patched tcpip.sys <not too sure, if it worked though, even though the tool said it did>Utorrent -1. Disabled UPnP2. Disabled DHT3. Set net max half open to 5,8,10,15,20,50,500. It keeps reverting back to 8 (default)4. Lazy bit field is set to true5. Resolve country is set to false6. IP resolving is disabled in Peers tab context menu7. Deleted settings.dat and settings.dat.old from %appdata%8. Upgraded to Version 1.819. Tried all kinds of upload & upload settings10. Switeck
2nd link in my signature gives suggested settings for uTorrent based on your max sustainable UPLOAD speed.Make sure your upload speed is REGULARLY sustaining the upload max you told it to use!...Otherwise, you may have it set too high.
