sklez
I clicked ok on the uTorrent 1.8.1 upgrade about an hour ago but got an error message with said something like upgrade could not be completed. uTorrent then closed itself. I don't have the exact wording of that message. Now when I try to start uTorrent it will not open and I get an error message:"This application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more details."What is the problem here, I have searched through the faqs and can't find an answer. Sorry if I have missed something. In case you need it I am using Windows Vista with Trend Micro Internet Security installed.
thelittlefire
Uhhhh.. The only thing I see about that is http://www.markwilson.co.uk/blog/2008/08/incorrect-side-by-side-configuration-caused-by-missing-runtime-libraries.htm and that's on Server 2008. sklez
Theres not much I can glean from that article that would help me.If its possible would it be a good idea to go back to 1.8? How would I go about doing this?
thelittlefire
How do you try to run the program? I'd get Process Explorer from http://sysinternals.com and use it to look at the run path for utorrent.exe when you start it from the desktop/start menu shortcut. You could always try an uninstall, but that would remove your data... what about deleting utorrent.exe from %PROGRAMFILES%\uTorrent and reinstalling it by downloading the exe from http://utorrent.com/download.php.. it's up to you.
