GTHK
Well it's like you said, your wireless card driver is likely crashing your computer, µTorrent is just a trigger of sorts. If there are no updated drivers, try contacting Linksys as well as trying a different wireless card (or go wired, wired doesn't suck as much for issues like this)... where'd you get a 64 bit driver? I don't see one available :/...see if you can e-mail, phone support sucks, web-chat support sucks.
Viper753
you can get the driver here http://www.astraea.net/mind/rt61Drivers/VISTA-x64/EDIT: I never had any problems with utorrent 1.7 or older.. only started after i got 1.
Firon
But it really has nothing to do with µTorrent though. It's clearly a bug in the wireless drivers.
Viper753
well this bug get initiated with the use of utorrent 1.8 and above I know you might say then don't use utorrent but i thought there might be a solution to this problem as older versions of utorrent didn't cause it. thanks anyway
Firon
Look for updated wireless drivers and your problem should go away.
Switeck
Use more conservative settings in uTorrent and it might be less likely to trigger problems with your currently rotten networking....But get updated wireless drivers if you can as well! Ultima
Well, as the link indicates, you might want to lower your global maximum number of connections a bit.
GTHK
Try this driver first, if it fails follow Ultima: http://www.wolfness.net/rt256x_rt266x_rt61_v2.01.02.0000.exe
Viper753
Ive tried that one before and got this message:Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.Linksys wireless-G PCI network adapter v4.1---Also changed the setting into:Max number of connections: 150Max number of connection / torrent:
GTHK
Force it, and if the driver doesn't work do a roll back. That driver was released for another driver issue related to that chipset.
Viper753
I have deleted the wireless driver and uninstalled it then tried the one you advised me to use and got this message:Windows was unable to install your Network Controller
GTHK
That made no sense, if you go to the device manager, use update driver on your wireless card, then select it manually, it'll install. You'll also be able to roll back the driver from there. How are your new settings treating you? Go even more conservative if all isn't well after your previous changes (and if the driver isn't compatible with your card).Contacting RaLink and Linksys may net you better drivers. Viper753
so far so good.. i've tried alot of drivers today and done the manual one where you select the network adapter then choose the inf... but didn't work however i'm using this driver which is the same to the one i posted before http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Adapters&message.id=2699
DrPhantum
Firon has advised me to search other threads for a solution to my problem... so I ended up here. Can anyone help me get a Vista x64 driver for an AirLink101 AWL6080 Wireless-N PCI card? Apparently, the Ralink drivers that I have installed are causing uTorrent to freeze up windows as soon as I connect.Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
