Sturtevant
I've used uTorrent with WebUI for over a year and I must say I love it! What I would like is the same great functionality for regular HTTP or FTP downloads so I can start the downloading of software patches and other non-torrentable items from school or work and have them waiting when I get home. Is there any way to do this with uTorrent? If not, does anyone know of a product (free or otherwise) which has this functionality (and can be run as a Windows Service - possibly with srvany)? Sorry if this is off-topic, but I figured that this community would be the most likely to have an answer to this question.
Firon
I actually can't think of any off the top of my head.
leepa
You can give Free Download Manager a try.It features the "Remote control" function which lets you control the downloads (it also support bittorrent protocol btw). I don't know how it works as a service though.I only tried this feature once (although I use FDM as my primary download manager). I had problems connecting to the web interface via SSH tunnel so my experience was very brief.
Sturtevant
@leepa:I also tried the Free Download Manager prior to posting. I was able to get it working, but not as a Windows Service. Also, it seemed very basic in its functionality (no ability to pause, stop, or remove current downloads).
