ToutPret
After installing utorrent and downloading from a US based server, The Uk's BBC iPlayer is blocking me from streaming video as it now thinks I am not in the UK. Uninstalling utorrent and restoring windows settings to an earlier point makes no difference. Is my IP address being forwarded? Is there something like a web-accelerator involved? I am a novice to port forwarding, etc., but, if you can shed light on my problem, I will be eternally grateful. By the way, I certainly intend to use utorrent. DreadWingKnight
ipv6?
Firon
It might be related to IPv6 if iPlayer has IPv6 connectivity. You'd need to disable Teredo with start -> run -> netsh int ipv6 set teredo disable
ToutPret
ok. thanks. If this doesn't work, can I undo with start -> run -> netsh int ipv6 set teredo enable ?
thelittlefire
Yes that command will re-enable.Best explanation I could come up with was http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/help/download_programmes/told_not_in_uk unfortunately I guess it doesn't even load outside the UK? Actually it seems http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/help/about_iplayer/newly_outside_uk would verify the changes made which teredo affects. Here's hoping your connectivity is restored
Firon
To enable Teredo, you must do the following.netsh int ipv6 set teredo client
ToutPret
Tried this, thanks. Doesn't make any difference. Anything else I could try?
moogly
Maybe renew your IP if it is dynamical. Or call your ISP.
ToutPret
Thanks, everyone! I now find I am in the UK again, although I have enabled Teredo. Incidentally, I had contacted my ISP (and looked at the iPlayer FAQs) but the helpdesk chappies were reluctant to comuunicate their network administrators - no surprise here! thelittlefire
It would have been nice for them to either verify themselves that you were still in the UK in the meantime Helpdesk get so many calls I always open mine by saying "Can you see out the window? I see a rainbow". This either allows you to get your point across or gets you escalation without much hassle I too welcome you back to the UK. How was your trip?
