COKEDUDE Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Why don't ports usually forward correctly for torrent programs when your using a wireless connection? Is there something special you have to do?
Ultima Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Wireless connection as in cellphone network or satellite connection? Well, you aren't given a real IP address.Wireless connection as in school wifi? If so, then that's because you don't own or control the router.Wireless connection as in normal wifi that you control? No, there isn't anything different about forwarding a port for that when compared with wired connections.
COKEDUDE Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 Yep it is the schools wifi. How did you know?
Ultima Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Well, the reverse DNS on your IP was a dead giveaway Unless you have control over the router with the WAN IP address, you won't be able to control your port forwarding.
COKEDUDE Posted October 23, 2008 Author Report Posted October 23, 2008 Ok thx for explaining. It was driving me crazy. It just seems really weird to me that when I plug my network cable into my computer and the wall of my school, that I can get the ports to forward correctly. I don't have any control over their network even when plugged in.
Ultima Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Might be UPnP at work -- I don't know. But remember, I said you won't have control, not that you can't forward the port
