Another Vista Torrent Freeze...

Hi

I know many people have posted issues running Vista and uTorrent. Never had a problem till I upgraded and now i've d/l 1.81 its still happening.

It runs fine, torrents download fast, but when I leave the Pc for a number of hours and come back - it's totally frozen and have to manually shut-down pc. It's a pain as its killing my ratios on numerous sites.

My Pc setup is:

Acer Aspire 7720G, running Vista Home Premium Service pack 1. Intel core duo T7300 @ 2.00 ghz. 2gb ram, 32bit operating system.

Using in-built windows firewall and AVG Anti-virus free (have had some issues with this not auto-updating not sure if its related and have turned of resident sh

helped as heard that was a problem - but still same issue).

I've changed uTorren affinity to only CPU0 - not sure if that helped.

Please help as i'm now thinking of going to the dark side and using Azareus again - but love uTorrent too much to not give it a chance!

Make sure your drivers are up to date, including networking and acer related.

Also have some stuff in µTorrent that isn't normally there:

ok - i'll check all my drivers tonight - would filehippo be the best for that?

How do I gte rid of the stuff that isnt usually in torrent - the avf, enethook and iconcodecservice? i'm not a noob but haven't had to tweak to this extent before..

That's more of an after thought, start with drivers first

And no filehippo! Start with Windows update then go to the manufacturers website of each device.

Do you have a realtek network card? If yes there is a parameter there you have to disable...
