zsquallz Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 If I limit the Upload speed will it effect the speed of the download? In other words is it proportional?
thelittlefire Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 As long as you don't apply http://utorrent.com/faq.php#What_does_Download_Limited_in_the_status_bar_mean.3F you won't. http://utorrent.com/setup_guide.php
Firon Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 If the limit is too high, you'll overload the connection. If it's too low, other peers won't wanna upload (much) to you.You need to find the right balance. I find 60-70% of your actual max works well.
Switeck Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 With Cox Cable ISP in the USA, you also have to NOT use near-max upload speed or you'll likely get in trouble with their network management...even potentially called for misuse-of-service. Cox disrupts BitTorrent using Sandvine-sent RST packets the same way ComCast is still doing in some areas.BitTorrent Encryption settings of Enabled or FORCED outgoing in uTorrent might help slightly.Your other settings in uTorrent might help to a lesser degree.2nd link in my signature matches OTHER settings to upload speeds/bandwidth.
