212121
Hi, does anyone know why is utorrent still taking up my harddrive space when the torrent has been pre-allocated?If I open the folder where a torrent is being downloded it already has the full 2GB size of that torrent, but when I start this torrent I still loose HD space, did I miss something?Version 1.8Windows xp SP2Files saved to 1TB external HD formated in ntfsThanks! Ultima
Upgrade to 1.8.1.1.8.0 had a bug with sparse files overriding preallocation.

Ultima
Once a file is sparse, though, it'll remain sparse. To make the files regular, you'll need to copy the files somewhere else and overwrite the sparse files (after stopping the torrents first, naturally). Ultima
No. As I said, sparse files cannot be "un-sparsed" unless you copy them.Sparse files are files that, while allocated in the filesystem, aren't actually taking up physical space in the drive. "Size" and "Size on disk" in the file properties will likely display very different numbers for sparse files, for example.

Firon
Basically, all your NEWLY added files will be non-sparse. BUt all the old ones will stay as is.
