twtcad
I've just upgraded to v1.4 and I love the new speed test feature! But it says my port is closed! I'm running XP Home SP2, no software firewall at this time because I've just reformatted. NOD32 Antivirus and Netgear wgr614v6 wireless router. Now I've followed Portforwards instructions of creating a static IP and forwarding port 60010 which uTorrent is using and still the speed test says it's closed. I'm at a total loss here. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this? I've searched but have found no answers.....Thank You for your time!
slayers
Windows default installation turns on SP2's firewall. Make sure you grant permission to uT. Also, double check the IP you've portforwarded, it should match what you see with the DOS command ipconfig.
twtcad
Yes, Windows firewall is off and I have done ipconfig /all and made sure all setting are accurate. Still port is closed..........Windows default installation turns on SP2's firewall. Make sure you grant permission to uT. twtcad
I have Sprint DSL and I do have the NAT error at the bottom of the screen. I am able to upld/dl most files ok, but it is obviouse that I'm not connecting to everybody and I know this is hurting the overall performance but I don't know what else to try. How do I find out if Sprint is behind a proxy? I'm not going to quit using uTorrent as I like this program a lot and I'm sure this problem is fixable, I'm just stuck! I was using Outpost firewall before I reformatted and I was having the same problem. I guess one way I can check to see if it is my isp causing the problem is bypass my router and connect directly to the modem and see what happens. Now when I do this there is no reason to forward ports so should I leave my port in uTorrent the same or check random ports? I'll report back later with what I find. twtcad
Well in my searching I've discovered that if I plug my laptop directly to the modem (no router and no firewall) I still have all ports closed per grc.com's port scan. I can only assume that my ISP has all ports closed, or is there another reason? But grc's site says if an ISP blocks ports it should show up as stealth and every one of my ports show up as closed whether I am direct to internet or thru my router. Any suggestion? Please? twtcad
I can not believe it, I figured it out! My damn Sprint modem has a router built in it, so I forwarded the port for uTorrent and joy I now have Network OK! I hope this helps somebody else with the NAT error issue! kaosama05
twtcad please tell me how you forwarded your port and what you did. I seem to have the same problem you had and I'm just not bright enough to figure it out on my own HELP!!!!!!!
twtcad
When you got your modem you should have received paperwork with it. Thumb thru it to see if they have a browser log in for it....if it does then go to portforward.com and in the modem sections look for your modem and it will direct you on how to forward that port. It was really easy once I figured out my modem had a router in it. And actually I figured that out on mine by googling my modem and stumbled across it that way, then I went to my paper work and found the browser log in info..... Good Luck!
