vanamor
Am currently downloading a huge torrent comprising 80 folders, all with .zip extension. As several folders have completed downloading, I paused the download and attempted to extract the contents of two of the completed folders. I get the old "format not recognized or damaged" message. I have tried with WinRAR and Jzip, with the same result. Even though the download has been paused, could it be that the nature of Utorrent will not allow extraction until the whole download has completed? (If it's not going to be successful, I'd rather abort now as I still have about 5GB to go!) Thanks for any advice.
DreadWingKnight
You likely don't have the pieces necessary to open the files in question. You're going to just have to wait.
vanamor
Thanks DWK. In "Files" tab, these folders read 100% completed, but in torrent-speak, folders don't exist, do they? I suspect you are right. I'll report back when the whole thing is done!
moogly
If zipped folders are compressed separately i.e. folder1.zip, folder2.zipetc... you can unzip them if they are completely downloaded. They are like files. But if it's folder1.zip.001, .002 etc, you can extract without having all files.
vanamor
The saga draws to a close! Had I more closely read the titles of all the folders in the upload, I would have found the final four were rebuilds of four appearing earlier. Two of these faulty ones were the two I had tried to open earlier. All is now well. Thanks for your help.
