DreadWingKnight Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 What IP address do you get on your computer (use the network connection status in windows, NOT whatismyip or some other IP display site).
danjen14 Posted October 28, 2008 Author Report Posted October 28, 2008 I use the CMD and going to the ipconfig /all is that what you mean? wow thanks for the speedy response.
thelittlefire Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Yes. That is what DWK refers to. Please use proper grammar syntax and sentence structure and refrain from .... and !!!
DreadWingKnight Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 That's what I mean.I only need x.x of the x.x.y.y IPv4 address.
danjen14 Posted October 28, 2008 Author Report Posted October 28, 2008 Ok, I have 192.168. is this bad? What is that info needed for?
DreadWingKnight Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 That tells me that your modem is also a router.Portforward.com may have information about it for forwarding.
danjen14 Posted October 28, 2008 Author Report Posted October 28, 2008 i have been there trust me. its an ambit modem, the model is not listed on that site and when i did find one that was close to it, same brand It does not have any port forwarding UI or any firewall section. So I am putting the blame on VISTA.
DreadWingKnight Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Considering you've got an RFC1918 IP address, I can't share that opinion of blame.Somewhere along the way you have a NAT, and blaming vista for a problem caused outside your computer doesn't make the problem go away.
danjen14 Posted October 28, 2008 Author Report Posted October 28, 2008 OK, I just try to do a reset and no go, am I safe to say that it is my modem/router?
