cheddar404
Hi guys, I know that this has been covered a few times but I have a friend who has a 3G Vodafone USB dongle internet connection. I have been setting up some software on his laptop including UTorrent. However, I cannot get rid of the yellow network problem sign. I know it's not possible to forward ports on this type of internet connection. Is there any way round this? Would it be possible to make Utorrent use maybe the HTTP port or similar on a tempory basis, switching it back to a random port after every download? Pardon my ignorance on this but I'm not an expert.Thanks,Andy.
Switeck
Changing ports won't change that you're not able to port-forward.Permanently firewalled!Only an expensive encrypted full VPN might bypass the firewall by forwarding everything to you after you connect to it.A bigger concern is normal settings for uTorrent will probably crash that USB networking device.Even the settings I give (2nd link in my signature) might be too much... Wireless + USB = needs very conservative settings.
cheddar404
Thanks for the speedy reply. I know I was clutching at straws. Does this mean that we won't be able to download anything or that he will just get slow speeds? I take it that using a proxy won't work either? Thanks again. Switeck
Even when you're firewalled, you can connect to those that are not firewalled. But when on average maybe 50-80% of everyone in torrents are firewalled...you're not likely to get the greatest speeds...and on some torrents with few peers+seeds you won't be able to connect to anyone at all.
