It2
After closing µtorrent, with no active torrents, the peers that were connected still continue to make connections to my computer via the same port. This is verified by starting a ftp server session using the same port number and verifying the ip addresses with an online tracker of the torrents. Is this the way µtorrent [and other similar] software works? If I completely stop a torrent and shutdown the software, my ip shouldn't be even listed in the swarm and someone else using µtorrent [and the like] should continue to make connection attempts right? ...or no? ...or is this a bug or what? DreadWingKnight
Because of the way some peers cache connection information, it can take hours or even days for them to work their way through. In cases like that, the only thing you can do is wait it out.
thelittlefire
In order for people to KNOW you stopped, they have to contact you and .. stop getting an active connection from you.
It2
I understand the cache connection explanation better than the simple one, but nevertheless, appreciate both replies -Thanks.
