cnico88
I found out that on heavily seeded torrents a large net.max_halfopen starts it very fast but on torrents with very few seeders I have to lower the net.max_halfopen to something like 4 or 5 to make it connect at all. I am not sure if this is the only problem or if there is something else, but for now it fixes my torrenting to what is used to be.I have no idea why because before I just set the net.max_halfopen to 80 and left it there and it used to download constantly
DreadWingKnight
Increased net.max_halfopen settings only creates problems and doesn't actually generate any real speed increases.
Firon
If you don't patch tcpip.sys, it causes problems when you raise it. Even if you do patch, MS often resets it with Windows Update, so it's not really a good idea to raise half-open in general.
alostsoul34
Have recent XP updates made any problems with utorrent? I too have used utorrent to down thousands of gigs. My computer's up to date. My ISP has no download limit. I did add firefox browser but I don't think that has anything to do with the fact that I cannot connect to any seeds or peers now at all. On anything I try to download. Only thing new on the computer is a new Belkin wireless adapter. I does show peers that could be connected to, but won't connect. It does not show any seeds that could be connected to at all.
