uTorrent kills my connectivity

Hello!

I've been using uTorrent for a while now with no problems. Yesterday it started killing of my connections, after running for a few minutes. I can't even connect to my routers config. ip :|

I'm using a cable modem + router (smc barricade wbr14-g2) and winXP SP2. Everything worked fine for months, but now it somehow is killing my connections. I can access the internet with my cell via wireless from the same router. If i restart the router everything goes back to normal, just to crash as soon as i run uTorrent.

This is probably not a uTorrent problem, but a bittorrent problem, i'm just hopping you guys can help me out

I did everything but patching the .sys file, which i'll do now.

Do tell what settings you're using. And provide us with the process lists.

I got an error when i tried to patch the .sys file.

My connection is 8MBps/500kbps (i think), i have 200 max connections global, 100 per torrent and 6 slots per torrent. My UL speed is limited to 92kbps and my DL speed is not capped.

What do you mean process lists?

a) get HijackThis from trendsecure.com, run it, view the log, and post the contents here

get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, Ctrl+D (to show the lower DLL pane), select the µTorrent process from the list, Ctrl+S (and save the list somewhere you'll find easily -- like the Desktop), then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here

If your connection is indeed xx/512k, select that in the Speed Guide. 512kbps cannot reach upload rates of 92KiB/s.

Well then it's not 512k, but it does reach 92k and a bit more, that's why i capped it to 92k Anyways, that shouldn't be the problem since i have had it like that since forever.

Btw, something happed yesterday that reset my PC configs (erased my firewal safe list and the windows start program list).

So, i connected my modem directly to the PC and i think it is working! Maybe it's some router problem, i don't know. :\

If with the same setup, just the modem works... you should look up the manufacturer's website to see if there's alternate firmware. The LInksys WRT54 series allows you to customize certain settings like connection timeouts which tend to be BAD DEFAULT for filesharing.

If however you don't/can't configure the router to work well with your settings, it's possible your settings are higher than they NEED to be for good connectivity / speeds. . .or you could enable the Windows firewall and drop the router, but of course that's a sub-optimal solution since you've got multiple computers.

I downloaded the latest firmware for my router, i'll try it later or tomorrow. I'll let you guys know how it went
