a324 Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 I've updated to 1.8.1 from 1.7.7I noticed that the number of peers I am connected to does not go over 100 and seeds over 50. For a total of no more of 150. Even though there are hundreds/thousands of seeds and peers available and I set global max. number of connections and max. connections per torrent high.I rolled back to 1.7.7 and minutes later the number of connections (seeds+peers) on the very same torrent went much higher 320+. Naturally speed increased as well.Is this a known issue?Thank you.
thelittlefire Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Perceived problems don't amount to "real" problems. It was brought up in the 1.8.1 announcement thread. Perhaps you could read there.
a324 Posted November 8, 2008 Author Report Posted November 8, 2008 No thelittlefire I don't think it's a "perceived" problem. I ran utorrent for several hours switching back and forth between the two versions while downloading the same torrent. 1.7.7 consistantly connected to more seeds/peers.I did not see this addressed in the announcement thread. Could you please post a link if it was discussed. It's not a big issue as I can continue to use 1.7.7, but it is not a my imagination.
Switeck Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Is there any difference in the encryption settings you're using in v1.7.7 and v1.8.1?Your ISP, Rogers Cable in Canada, does some pretty nasty things to BitTorrent traffic...so it's hard to completely rule them out as causing at least part of this problem.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Downgrading isn't troubleshooting either, and 1.7.7 is unsupported.
