unionaire Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Okay I have a NAS drive on the network and for some reason uTorrent 1.8.1 keeps thinking it's a router and tries to map ports on it.here's the log:[2008-11-10 16:46:54] UPnP: The device "TwonkyMedia [XSERV]" is not a UPnP router (http://192.168.1.17:9000/DeviceDescription.xml)[2008-11-10 16:46:54] UPnP: Device error "http://192.168.1.17:9000/DeviceDescription.xml": (-2) [2008-11-10 16:46:54] UPnP: TCP port 21836 -> 192.168.1.13:21836 is already mapped. Not re-mapping.[2008-11-10 16:46:54] UPnP: UDP port 21836 -> 192.168.1.13:21836 is already mapped. Not re-mapping.[2008-11-10 17:06:55] UPnP: Getting external IP[2008-11-10 17:06:55] UPnP: Got external IP: 218.79.13.250as you can see, 192.168.1.17 is my NAS, uTorrent did in fact got to map a port on the router 192.168.1.1. However, it still shows the yellow "!" on the bar and i think it isn't working because right now it downloads really slowly. any idea?
DreadWingKnight Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 [2008-11-10 17:06:55] UPnP: The device "TwonkyMedia [XSERV]" is not a UPnP router (http://192.168.1.17:9000/DeviceDescription.xml)This tells me that your NAS device is broadcasting UPnP information that tells uTorrent that it is not a router. The blocked firewall issue likely stems from something else.
unionaire Posted November 10, 2008 Author Report Posted November 10, 2008 thanks for the reply, if what you said is true then it may not have anything to do with the NAS,but why does uTorrent keeps trying to re-map the port if UPnP is already working? plus the yellow "!" is still up there and not working. i just upgaded from 1.7.7 like yesterday and it was working fine.edit:okay here's something new, I manually forwarded a port UDP/TCP for utorrent on my router, and for a sec there it worked fine, only moments later it stopped working again, really weird problem and again, it didn't happen with 1.7.7, should i just roll back the version?
DreadWingKnight Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 but why does uTorrent keeps trying to re-map the port if UPnP is already working?Because some routers periodically remove UPnP mappings without the consent or knowledge of the programs that mapped them.okay here's something new, I manually forwarded a port UDP/TCP for utorrent on my router, and for a sec there it worked fineWorked fine as in you got a green icon in the status bar?it didn't happen with 1.7.7, should i just roll back the version?Downgrading to a version with known security holes is not recommended or supported, so NO.
unionaire Posted November 10, 2008 Author Report Posted November 10, 2008 yes, worked fine as in i got a green icon and if you click to test it, it'd say ported mapped correctly.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Yellow is an intermediary state. If it goes green, even sporadically, everything is configured correctly.
unionaire Posted November 10, 2008 Author Report Posted November 10, 2008 but it went from green to yellow, and the "test if port is forwarded properly" button tells me the same thing.
moogly Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Anyway why you don't forward a port in your router and disable UPnP ?
unionaire Posted November 11, 2008 Author Report Posted November 11, 2008 well, like i explained before, when I do that it worked for a while then it turn yellow again, and 1.7.7 doesn't have this problem. Let me just test 1.7.7 on another computer on the network see if it works.
thelittlefire Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 The problem isn't with the NAS. It's likely there's some problem between UPnP and your DHCP range.. or your router is really sub-par and does silly things. Have you disabled NAT-PMP? It's obvious you're using a UPnP capable router so you don't need the other.Additionally, if you don't care about DHT, you could try the Advanced setting for use_tcp_only ... checking the router rules, you have a rule set for TCP, and UDP .. only for your active IP?
