DreadWingKnight
Does avast have rules for uTorrent? If so, have you removed and re-added them?
dazza152
I dont know how do I find that out ? I was running avast before the upgrade
thelittlefire
Many programs auto-block upgraded programs. :/ As far as "where".. maybe there's a configuration panel?
dazza152
going to go on the avast forum and ask thereok gonna pause the P2P shield see if it makes a difference ok this is gettin godd now when I click on the u torrent ico it reinstalls it each time ((((
thelittlefire
If it's asking to "install" each time.. are you clicking on the shortcut or the EXE on your desktop/quick launch/wherever?If it's the shortcut... you can add "/NOINSTALL" OUTSIDE the path of the EXE to see if it just starts uT up that way. Also reasons for this include that the .DAT files aren't being found in the correct folder :/
dazza152
meh ill go wipe out the whole lot and start again I thinkright have unistalled u torrent now but if i reinstall it from the setup it does exactly the same something has gone very wrong here even doing that it picks up all the old torrents where should the dat files be ?
thelittlefire
If it picks up the torrent list when starting that means your DAT files are intact. However... what happened when you appended /noinstall to the command line outside the launch path?
dazza152
I dont know how to do that .. so if you can tell me how loloh btw I'm running vistafurther info Its stopped trying to install every time now just crashes every time it starts seems that avast doesnt have any settings for u torrentright further update seems to be the windows firewall that was conflicting fingers xed now its working with Avast running
thelittlefire
Can you go to the same place http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992 to get the insturctions for a Process Explorer DLL list for uTorrent.exe ?Not many things cause uT to crash on startup... but with that list of DLLs it should help narrow things down.So you were successfully able to add the /NOINSTALL parameter to the command line for utorrent.exe?
