speedygonsales
ive followed loads of instructions but DL speeds are at best 15 - 20 kb/s normally 5kb/s. ive tested a torrent from OpenOffice.org, Slackware Linux, they came in at 80 and 90 kb/s on a 1meg line with 3 torrents downloading (v. slowly).out ive 7000 seeds i get 32 (32[6959]seeds) and peers are 13(3745). on another im getting 3(6)seeds & 7(17) peers, whats the crack with that?the one thing i could never fix was the port, i always get a not working message, im only getting back into utorrent after giving up on it last year, i must of spent weeks trying to fix the port, modem settings and anything & everything, with the help of a IT expert, but it could not be done, I do get a green light though. do i have to do anything with the proxy server? its set at "none". also will i randomize port at start? i have enabled protocol encryption, i followed the instructions to do with firewall. in firewall exceptions will i allow UPnP framework and also file and printer sharing? I have even turn firewall off but no diff. i have turned off zonealarm security suite.
thelittlefire
http://utorrent.com/setup_guide.php is all you need at the beginning. If you can download @ 90 ... out of a theoretical 128 KiBps max, thats pretty good.If you manually forward your port you don't need UPnP or NAT-PMPOn Vista f you have problems with uT closing you must uninstall ZA. If you are not on Vista, and uT doesn't work with ZA installed try uninstalling it to see if that's the problem. If you can forward without ZA then ZA is the problem, and must either be configured or replaced. Are you sure you should be able to forward?? What kind of internet connection do you have and how do you connect to it?
speedygonsales
i have not done anything with the ports this time, what do you mean forward, is it putting in a set of numbers? im using broadband 1meg or just over 1 meg, win XP. ZA is a trial and will be gone in a few days anyway its turned off while im downloading.if i was able to download those slackware linux & openoffice test torrents at decent speeds then should'nt i be able to download the other stuff at the same, how come its not happening? thelittlefire
Not all swarms have enough peers to give you the same download speed. The reason the test openoffice and slackware torrents are used is to test whether your line is crippled for torrenting. That you CAN get 90 KiBps doesn't mean all swarms will give it to you because remember your download is someone else's upload. ALL you an control is your settings and making sure you are a contributing member of the swarm through your upload settings. What Ctrl-G settings are you using? Switeck
Do note uTorrent's settings are based on your line's max upload speed...which may be way less than the download max of 1 megabit/second.Upload bandwidth may be as little as 128 kilobits/second. (Which converting bits to BYTES means you may only get about 8-12 KiloBYTES/second max upload in uTorrent.)Hopefully you have more upload than that...
