After seeding starts (# seeds) goes to 0 as seeders disappeared

Hi.

I'm trying to help a French user called Sampang on "Non-English Discussion" subforum but I'm not able to solve his issue.

As his IT English is poor, I write instead of him.

I hope you will find a solution...

Problem: when he has finished to download a torrent and becomes himself a seed, the number of seeders within () changes from positive integer to 0 (after few hours or 1 day) as seeders disappeared suddenly. So he is unable to know if the tracker has really some seeds or not for the current torrent.

Info: uT 1.8.1 / Windows XP SP3 / AV Avira / Windows FW

French ISP Club Internet with router box. ADSL 2+

Tracker status are good. Torrents stay active and show seeds during the downloading. DL speed is normal.

uT has the green icon.

UPnP & NAT-PMP disabled.

Max UL speed ~691 Kbit/s with settings 640 kbps in Speed Guide.

I asked him to renew the uT exception in his FW and security tools. I saw he has too PeerGuardian & Emule. But this issue seems to occur only with uT 1.8.1.

Any idea ?

Honestly it sounds like tracker trouble if he (as the only seed) doesn't show up from an announce or scrape :/

That or for whatever reason there is no EXTERNAL address listed. Does he overwrite net.bind_ip net.outgoing_ip ??

If he right clicks on the torrent and resets bans.. does his address show up in ()?

Are you sure any of those installed programs don't do firewall/web/internet inspection?? Spamhilator how does it know e-mail is scanned?

He has enabled Scrape infos.

He didn't modify these values (net.*). When he resets bans of the torrent job, his adress as seed doesn't appear within (), as he stays invisible.

He has enabled Spamhilator, nothing occurs.

More info: he tried with OO or Slackware's torrents, same issue.

In addition, the number of seeds becomes 0 after few hours OR when he turns off his computer and his box/router. So restarting the computer and uT implies this issue.

Anyway torrents and uT icon stay green.

Plus do you think it could a pbm related to the routeur maybe with its firewall included.

My point in the response is to say.. if the TRACKER isn't sending out the peers, which is evidenced in your peer cache (double check by clear list, then re-announce/update tracker), it's not likely your problem. Except for the fact it happens on all torrents. Routers would only affect connectability, not peercount.

The French user has posted a new response this afternoon and his issue seems to be solved in fact.

You are right, it's a tracker problem. He tested with popular tors (100 or 200 peers) on different trackers and when he was seeding the seed number didn't become 0.

So it's clearly a problem with this specific private tracker. I told him to contact the tracker admins for more precision and eventually a fix.
