That's the number of new attempted outgoing connections at once.

Incoming connections do NOT count against that limit, nor do existing already-established connections.

Still had problems with that but why would it make a difference.

Just replaced it with a TP-Link TL-WN651G and so far have been torrenting at 400 kB/s down and 100 kB/s up for the last 40 minutes without a freeze. I can't believe that all USB dongles are sold as faulty...

I tried two others with similar problems. Seems 90% of the problems with uTorrent causing freezes can be explained by using USB wifi. Just seems strange this isn't explicitly mentioned anywhere I could find.

It's not a uTorrent problem. It's pretty generic to all windows apps which use the networking hardware heavily.

We're sorry that the FAQ's "incompatible" list doesn't change much. Sure some of the more common questions could be put there, but for people who don't even read that... and still post here. All requests still get a response, what if posts which ARE answered in the FAQ aren't responded to on the forum?!?! <backwards time land>

All I can find is that it uses an Atheros chipset which should be good. Seems pretty strange that the OS has to actually hard crash rather than just reduce throughput on faulty-as-new wifi interfaces.

Hey there fellas, I've got a similar problem. I'm using an MSI US60SE 108Mbit wifi dongle and my PC keeps locking up at random times when I'm using utorrent, which is pretty much always. I've got all my drivers updated and net.max_halfopen lowered to 4 (as you suggested here and in other posts) but the problem persists.

So I guess the only thing left is switching to an NIC or WNIC, huh? BTW is WNIC just as good as NIC? Coz I'm to far from the router to use a cable.

If you're behind a router, don't forward UDP to your computer's uTorrent listening port.

UDP packets seem to be "rougher" on USB wireless devices than regular TCP ones for some reason...
