revnice Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Gentlemen:I always have the ! sign in the status bar ('no incoming connections') - how can that be true when downloading is working? When I check for port forwarding, I get 'Does not appear to be open' - same question, if the port is not open, how can downloading be working. Is port forwarding only applicable if you have a router? Thanks - revPS: I have a Prodigy Infinitum modem with multiple outputs but I don't you'd define it as a router.

GTHK Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Those addresses mean there's a router, and sometimes modems are actually routers :/Try this website, if it works then you can configure the (a?) router (searching/giving us the make/model modem may help): http://192.168.1.254
revnice Posted November 13, 2008 Author Report Posted November 13, 2008 GT:Not sure what you're asking from that page - here's the modem details:Model: 2701HG-T Gateway Hardware Version: 2700-000592-006 Software Version: 5.29.52.0 There is a page on that site where I can edit firewall settings - is that where I would 'open a port'? If so, how? Thanks - really appreciate your help!rev
GTHK Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Try this: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/2wire/2701HG-T/Utorrent.htm
revnice Posted November 13, 2008 Author Report Posted November 13, 2008 I got rid of the ! in the status bar by forwarding the port in the Prodigy Firewall Settings page. Thanks a lot!
