System Tray Icon Changes Position

I am having a minor, but odd problem with uTorrent 1.8.1.12639.

I usually load uTorrent first, so that its icon is at the bottom of the XP system tray, while more often used apps are at the top. But shortly after loading uTorrent, the position of the icon changes. It dissapears for a second then reappears, and when it does it's at the top of the system tray, as if it was the last program loaded instead of the first.

I've looked in the Event Viewer, and there is no mention of uTorrent crashing or anything, so I'm not sure why it's acting as if it's being closed, and then reopened again each time after loading.

Has anyone else seen this?

Normally system tray icons should not change position. I do not use any icon hiding features either.

I remember discussion about the icon not appearing at all because explorer wouldn't load in time, and that the solution was to re-instate the icon. I don't know if this solution was implemented, but if it was then the icon might behave as you described. Beta change logs maybe.

When tray icons "disappear" and re-appear they "move" to the front of the tray. That's how windows works. If you want it to stay in the same place, do you have "always show tray icon" enabled in Preferences?

Yes, the "always show tray icon" setting is enabled in uTorrent.

Well, are you sure it's not indeed explorer.exe crashing?

Yeah, explorer.exe isn't crashing, that's for sure.
