Modem crash caused by utorrent?

for some reason when i have utorrent running every couple of minutes my modem crashes(the broadband link turns flashing orange) but it doesn't seem like its chewing up my processor.

i have already tried the faqs but am uncertain if modem crash counts as computer crash or frezzing

modem is a 2wire 1701 hg and am using the latest utorrent version

i have tried and succeeded in forwarding my port and increasing the speed of my dl's

i have avast, avg antivirus, peer guardian, and mcafee running

What are your Ctrl-G settings? Have you tried lowering them following http://forum.utorrent.com/vewtopic.php?id=15992

I type all URLs manually.. and I apologize for my stuck "i" key. I will have to CAREFULLY clean the pads on this keyboard this weekend.
