winMX_67 Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Well not there will be a lot more users!!! .
chaosblade Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Thats nice to see. But, lets prepare for another barrage of users bitching about their speed problems aswell
deeppal Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Thats nice to see. But, lets prepare for another barrage of users bitching about their speed problems aswell Haha thats a nice way of looking at it. One thing i really like is the developers really listen to the users and are active in forumsI hope that continues even in the future.
juju Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 Thats nice to see. But, lets prepare for another barrage of users bitching about their speed problems aswell that'll change from the useless usual "hey , I beat the dl world record with utorrent"
ceedee Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 ROFL at you lot! I'm new to utorrent -- attracted by the Slyck article -- after using Tornado, Azureus, TorrentStorm and ABC over the years and I'm very impressed by the az-like features and non-az-like efficient use of resources.(I've just switched seeding a torrent from ABC to utorrent and seen the memory usage fall from over 18MB to less than 2MB!)There are always likely to be a few opportunities for improvement in such a 'young' client and it does the developers great credit that they read and participate in this forum.Well done, folks!

Norton Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 http://p2pnet.net/story/6530http://img252.imageshack.us/my.php?image=priceless5tj.jpg
Alex H Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 http://p2pnet.net/story/6530http://img252.imageshack.us/my.php?image=priceless5tj.jpgp2pnet "development manager" here.Yes, I know the article on uTorrent was short. My "bloody brilliant" comment was an initial reaction after using uTorrent for about half and hour. During that time I found it to be one of the best BT clients I've used. Expect to see more coverage of uTorrent on p2pnet in future, including a more detailed review.
vurlix Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 You should base your review on the much improved 1.1.4 when it comes out 8) (very soon now)
bontoogobeanso Posted October 13, 2005 Report Posted October 13, 2005 I also found utorrent after reading the article in Slyck. I have a laptop that goes from my cable modem/router at home to my network at work. I've probably tried 20 different clients trying to get decent download speeds at work. I had been using BitComet because I got the best speeds, but it wasn't reporting my statistics correctly. I was downloading a torrent here at work last night with utorrent at 80 kB/s, something I haven't seen since the now defunct PTC client. The user interface is informative, but not cluttered. I downloaded 1.1.3 a few days ago. Turned it on the next day and it updated to 1.1.4. Cool. I knew a client like this would come along someday. Thank You.
Grunthor Posted October 13, 2005 Report Posted October 13, 2005 p2pnet is how I found µTorrent, which I love. Thanks for such a great torrent app!
