SamAWaters Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 In OPTIONS --> PREFERENCES --> GENERAL there is a button "Install IPV6 / Teredo." What are these and when do you install them. IPV6 seems to be installed on my utorrent config that works OK.Also what is the "All Feeds" button on left side of the dialogue box. Does that refresh links. Also is there any other way of manually refreshing links to speed up downloads. Also can the refresh times of the trackers be user adjusted? There was a UDP tracker site loaded with the torrent but status in Utorrent says "Invalid URL" Is this due a setting in Utorrent that needs to be changed? Thanks all
schnurlos Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Best to read these pages http://www.utorrent.com/guides.php and the official help file http://download.utorrent.com/utorrent-help.zip too.For "Teredo": just have a look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teredo_tunneling (new in utorrent 1.8).
Switeck Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 uTorrent won't use UDP trackers, as they're not supported by the standard BitTorrent protocol.
thelittlefire Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 When reading the manual (also available from F1) pay attention to gui.tall_category_list it's available due to the change in 1.8 where RSS is now integrated. Instead of hunting in Ctrl-R, you can see the feeds in the Category pane under the "All Feeds" place you mentioned.(posted since noone directly addressed it)
SamAWaters Posted November 19, 2008 Author Report Posted November 19, 2008 Little fire,Thanks for your reply but means little to IT blockhead if you don't spell it out in lay termsYour comment "pay attention to gui.tall_category_list it's available due to the change in 1.8 where RSS is now integrated. "What is RSS and how do you set V1.8.1 for that. Also what is the effect of setting "max global connections" and "Max peers per torrent" higher than the values recommended in the forum for that particularspeed xx/xxThanks all. Great site.
Switeck Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Setting "max global connections" and "Max peers per torrent" higher than recommended...Download speeds may go down...Or your modem, router, network card, networking drivers, uTorrent, or all of windows might crash."Fun!"
SamAWaters Posted November 19, 2008 Author Report Posted November 19, 2008 Thanks all.Downloads going fine.
