inuit
Hi there I hope I am on the right forum for this. if not could someone place this where it should be. Right , this morning I checked my uploads and I found in the Peers list the following; (Fake) torrent IP 138.238.23.211 and 138.238.250.155. Against it there was no % or any other details. Does some one know what this means? Thanks in advance for any help.
Ultima
Fake...? Do you mean that the client ID was a fake µTorrent? If so, then that means the peer is using a client that is trying to make believe that it is µTorrent, but was detected. You can ignore it.
inuit
Hi there Ultima thanks for your reply . Here is a screen shot Of what I mean. I did not think to put it up before. The person is using 1.7.7 So far it has only appeared on the torrent shaded over. This is the first time I had seen it. As I run two pcs then I checked both , on one I use 1.7.7 and on the other 1.8.1. If it is as you say then I can breath easy. Thanks once again. moogly
Save its IP in your ipfilter.dat and ban it. That's all.
Ultima
Well, banning isn't necessary. Just because a peer fakes doesn't automatically mean it's ban-worthy. It may be suspicious, sure, but immediate ban, I'm not so sure (that's up to your discretion).
