varanama
Hi, I would like the configuration files that are at the moment saved in Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\uTorrent to be saved in the utorrent.exe folder. I just formated and thou i have my utorrent.exe in another partition, all the configuration files were lost. In my opinion utorrent should not be dependent of windows system folders nor the windows registry, because if you format (noone does format windows periodicaly, do they?) you lose configuration files that could have been saved in the utorrent folder without further complications. Thanks for reading my request, and keep on working in utorrent, i love it. P.D: im still waiting for the linux version !!
Firon
http://www.utorrent.com/faq.php#How_can_I_share_my_torrents_between_user_profiles.3FAnd it's not dependent on the registry, it doesn't use it at all.
varanama
so if i copy the content of Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\uTorrent into the utorrent folder(ie: d:\utorrent), and right after i delete Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\uTorrent , it will read the configuration files from (d:\utorrent)?will utorrent update those files, or will it create newones in Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\uTorrent?I have copied my toolbar.bmp into d:\utorrent and deleted it from Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\uTorrent, but it doesnt work. Ultima
If utorrent.exe is in the same folder, it'll use those files first.
Nefarious
the way of using it in the "documents and settings" folder is better for multiple users on a same PC which i thank so much but u can do the other way as firon and ultima pointed, besides except for resume.dat the other .dat files are just easy to configure again
Firon
You have to have, at minimum, settings.dat and utorrent.exe in the same folder for it to work. You can copy all the files, though.
