Torrent stops downloading

Hi, While downloading a torrent it stops and I am getting an error message that says "The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open."

HELP! What does this mean and what do I do to eliminate the glitch?

I am using uTorrent 1.8.1.12639 on WXP Pro MCE + SP2. Internet connection is DSL through a Linsky (AM300) ADSL2+ modem. I get download speed of 190Kb/s.I have just hooked up to the hardware and reconnected online again after a while off.

I have updated to this version of uT from 1.8.1. Have never had this happen before, Problem started when download reached 40%. Force start gets it going again but not for long.

According to the icon I don't have an incoming connection and may have to do a Port Forwarding fix, but I can't see why as I get a download anyway--sort of.Well usually I get what I'm downloading, as I said, the glitch I have at moment is alien to me.

All advice welcomed.

I am using Avast 4 (free version) & Firewall is Comodo Pro, both updated today after my break from comp use.

Sorry about the delay in my reply to your Q. I have been egging the download along with 'force restart'. got it to 99.9% but each time I get the error message and give it the barbarian boot again, the download resets to 99.4%. If I shut-down uT & reopen it, I receive a message on the relevant download line, " Invalid download state, try resuming"

Sometimes the icon that shows if the port I am using is open will change from one of the 3 options to the other. Most prominant is the blocked port triangle with the ! inside of it. At times I get download speeds of up to 500+ kB/s. But can't get it to go 100%, even when 'Availability' reaches 13 or more.

Long winded barbarian I am eh.

ps. Since I first posted my queryI have checked out the forums on the subject and did a 'Hijack This' scan, downloaded/used a program " Process Explorer", from systinternals.com. When I did the PE check I selected & right clicked "uT.exe" and selected 'Debug'.Well,the uT.exe disappeared from the list.Still works though, think I'll try another download & see what happens.The one I am trying to obtain is 526MB and should've been done hours ago. The upload has been 1.27GB thus far.( ?!)

Could you post a HijackThis log?

And while it's not likely to be the cause, could you try uninstalling Avast? Reboot after you do so.

I uninstalled avast! AV, rebooted and restarted uT. Download finished pronto. Force recheck shows all good.

As with any other help you can offer me on the present state of affairs with my computer.

Now I will re-install avast! AV and try downloading another.torrent.

Hello, i just want to say, that I am having the same problem, but I bought the Norton Anti Virus Protection program and now i cant download any games or nothing. It starts to download then stops and reads error, access denied, i talk to the norton people, and of course they mawas it seem like there is no problem and couldtnt understand what i was trying to ask, so if anyone can help me, I would be so greatful

Did you ONLY buy the Antivirus software or their suite? There is a control panel where you can configure the settings, se if the program you bought comes with a firewall component.

What OS? Other security software installed? You look at a HiJackThis logfile to see what you have installed if you're not sure... post it here. Are you sure you're saving to a directory you have write access too. What does "Save As" on the General tab say?

I bought the norton internet security 2009 pkg, and it has id protection, antiphishing, two way firewall, web site authenication, network seciurity, antispam, antivirus, antispyware, and botnet protection, internet worm protection, intrusion prevention, os and appl. protection, and when i pull up the control panel and yes there is a firewall which say when i click on it, turning off this feature reduces your system protection, smart firewall, and it also disabled the other firewall that was set up with the computer and as far as the hijack, im not for sure what you are saying, and when i download games, i save them to my download folder and im not for sure what hijacking means
