Becki
When a piece fails a hash check why does it start the same piece again from the same peer until banned>Is there anyway to get it to try a different piece from that peer after a failed hash check instead? Increasing the ban ratio would work if only i could get it to move on.Is this a bug or have i just got some settings wrong somewhere? Please help. thelittlefire
Requests to peers are persistent I guess until the states change. You would have to become uninteresting or uninterested, for the request out for the piece be sent to another peer. Of course end-game would not let this happen since all pieces left are sent out to all connected peers and whoever sends first "wins" by letting you complete your download. If peers are sending you bad data, wouldn't you rather they get banned sooner rather than later... I'm confused why you talk about increasing the ban ratio..
Becki
The reason i'd rather the peer was forced to move on to another piece instead of being banned is because most of the pieces from this peer are good.It the peer was forced to the next piece instead of just repeating the bad one it would be worth increasing the ban ratio. The failing pieces were consistent but i can't find a way to force a peer to only send certain pieces or to avoid others. Also, this is the only peer that connected at a good speed for that particular file.I would like to set it so a peer only gets one attempt at each piece. Or to be able to get them to go to a different piece after a fail.If a certain piece from a certain peer always fails isn't there some way to let them know, to return some code to stop them sending it out. thelittlefire
OOOOH, hmm, it's obviously apparent something about the piece is troublesome. Unfortunately I guess you have to wait for it to be banned then right click, reset bans.. for it to choose a new piece. This is definitely an interesting case to evaluate the piece-picker algorithm on
Becki
I not only had to do that but use the priority to get another peer to send that piece before resetting the bans.I found otherwise they always went for the same piece again!Do you think they might consider this in the next version or will it be too much work for an occasional problem?Still new to this torrent stuff so i don't know if this is something that would be worth fixing.
