Lethal Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Hi,Not sure if this is a a bug, however I would appreciate some advice and direction.I have tried to move the file folder that 'uTorrent' uses on my pc to another folder (and drive) and found that not only did all the downloads try to restart, they loaded themselves back to the original folder, as they restarted. This is despite most files being fully downloaded and (previously) seeding.I noted that the 'percentage downloaded' (done) column was reset to zero, probably causing the above. When I restored the folders to their original spot, this column remains at zero. How do I complete this move successfully, and how do I resurrect the 'done' column top show 100% as appropriate.I have reinstalled (using the latest version), and reset the 'preferences' all to no avail. There was nothing in the FAQ's about this, accordingly advice is welcome,System info:Win XP Home, Intel Core2Duo 2.33, 2gb Ram & Nvidia geforce 8600gtregardsLethal
DreadWingKnight Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Stop all torrentsSet download location on them to the new locationForce re-check (if this still comes up 0%, then you didn't set it right, try one layer up/down).Start torrent.
Lethal Posted November 27, 2008 Author Report Posted November 27, 2008 Hi DreadWingknight,Thanks for that.Apparently 'I didnt do it right'.After following your direction the force re-check worked only whilst the files were also in the old directory...once deleted the force recheck came back with 0% (and the same in the 'completed' column)....and very quickly. Is there only one preference to alter to control this? When you say try one layer up or down I assume that you mean the target directory in the preferences area?...if so, also no change.Apprecaiae any advice that can be provided....I will reboot now and report back if any impact.regardsLethal
DreadWingKnight Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 The downloads directory in preferences is NOT retroactive to already loaded torrents. You need to use the "Set download location" function on the task in uTorrent.
Lethal Posted November 27, 2008 Author Report Posted November 27, 2008 Hi DreadWingKnight,Thanks again. For a novice user like myself, and for clarity, you are saying that downloaded files (that are seeding) cannot be moved, and the same applies to those that are currently downloading.New torrents/files however can be.Is this correct? This would seem to state that what I am trying to do (move folders), uTorrent cannot accomodate. The 'set downloads location' I cannot find...only 'location of downloaded files...put new downloads in' . Is this where you meant? Finally the fact that it is not retroactive...would indeed explain it all.(It would be a nice to have, though).regardsLethal

Lethal Posted November 28, 2008 Author Report Posted November 28, 2008 Thanks, I thought there would have to be another option (menu) for this 'set download' option that I wasnt aware of or seeing. After following your further advice, all except two of them have still come back with 0% completed & done (both columns), and I know for a fact that at least three others have completed (100%).Sorry to bug ya, but (again) any ideas?regardsLethal
DreadWingKnight Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Did you point at the EXACT folder name for them and not your general save folder?
Lethal Posted November 28, 2008 Author Report Posted November 28, 2008 Hi,You knew didnt you...Thats done it.thanks so much for the perserverence.regardsLethal
