Postality
It's kind of a pain having to shutdown and reload µTorrent every time you change a skin.would be nice to have some sort of refresh skin option esspecially when one it building a skin for it. 1c3d0g
Search the User Interface Design sub-forum for "toolbar" and "status icons"... :/ I even did it for you. Most have a [ ] in front of them, so you know they contain artwork.http://forum.utorrent.com/search.php?search_id=2102187476http://forum.utorrent.com/search.php?search_id=127793549
Ultima
You can't share searches on the forum -- they expire (and might be a per user thing) =T
Allied
I'm sure the vast majority of people will never use a skin. And since uTorrent's big selling point is low resources, I think adding vanity options would be a bad idea.
Ultima
Many people do use the "skins" (I personally don't consider them skins, but oh well =P). Also, they add negligible (if any) resource usage, so it doesn't really matter.
Sisq0
I'm sure the vast majority of people will never use a skin. And since uTorrent's big selling point is low resources, I think adding vanity options would be a bad idea.Customizing utorrent (i supose changing default toolbar and status icons is not skining) has nothing to do with memory usage at all ... it's all the same what buttons u'll use - default or custom... and exactly changing visual style of the program is one of the things most users would appreciate - every man has different likings about how a program should looks like. Nefarious
how much does icons/toolbars add to memory usage anyway? like 100-200k?
Sisq0
NOTHING ... it's because u don't add nothing in addition to the program, u just replace default icons & buttons with custom ones... that's it
chaosblade
He's right on that point. Lets say the default bmps are X kilobytes compressed, and Y kilobytes when decompressed (in memory). So just replacing it with an external BMP file thats pretty much the same size isnt going to change anything. A few bytes more or less, or different byte values in uTorrent's process memory is really nothing ;]
Pwnage
Yea but is a feature like this proposed for a later version?
Ultima
Once a suggestion is proposed, it's an open proposal until it's implemented, if ever, or unless it's shot down.

Ultima
Not necessarily =TIn all honesty, no idea is totally barred unless ludde explicitly states that he won't do it. ludde's suprised us many times already (or me, at least).

Ultima
@Pwnage: Heh, lots of stuff... ipfilter.dat was kinda unexpected, especially since ludde and vurlix had stated that they didn't want manual banning. Other stuff, but I can't remember exactly what. RSS, I expected, since I recall *someone* saying it would probably be implemented a long time ago.
Firon
Well, ipfilter.dat isn't intended for manual banning (which is why it doesn't close current connections, only new ones), more for banning IP ranges for specific purposes, like blocking out of country traffic. Badsecurityforum
I agree that such an option would be useful if you are making skins. Other than that it is useless.Maybe it could be incorporated into the CTRL-Shift-R-command.
Pwnage
Yes as mugros said, it would only require like 5-10 lines of code.
