slow downloads

hi how do i configure my settings properly im not very good on computer so need it spelling out thanks done speed test results are :

dsl connection 5856 kbps (downstream)

448 upstream

ip profile 4000 kbps

achieved 3376 kbps

asured rate 500 kbps

ip throughput 770 kpbs

dont know what any of this means any help would be gratefully recieved thanks, widget

You got those numbers from a site like http://speedtest.net ??

http://utorrent.com/setup_guide.php , and http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=34259 for your values, select the 40 KiBps upload setting, in red, 448Kbit

What the values mean are, if your ISP isn't short-changing you, you should get > 500 KiBps in uTorrent when downloading, and you should be able to pump out near 40 KiBps to up to 10 people at once.

tried that put settings in still v slow download speeds of 4.5 average

4.5 KiBps in uT? Have you tested the test torrents.. http://slackware.com/torrents/ ? Are you able to upload consistently>

yes same with test torrents,the speed goes up to 7.0 and down to 1.7

BT Central ADSL ISP in the UK throttles torrents.

Probably even more so during peak hours.

Is outgoing Encryption set to Enabled or FORCED?
