panqueques Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 I added another computer on my LAN to the peer list (its on a separate internet connection downloading the same torrent, but it is on the same LAN) and µTorrent doesn't seem to connect to it. I entered the correct local IP and port (in this case 192.168.1.100:32985). Why does µT connect?
moogly Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Adding a peer in peer list is not automatic and not 100% successful. If it's a public tracker, active LPD in your both uT clients. And verify your router supports UDP multicast.
panqueques Posted December 9, 2008 Author Report Posted December 9, 2008 I already had "Local Peer Discovery" enabled. How can I figure out if my router supports UDP multicast? I have a Netgear WGU624.
Harold Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 You could use wireshark to see if you're receiving any multicasted UDP packetsedit: of course you should make sure that the other computer is sending some..
moogly Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Or read the tutorial of your router, surely available online. Check the boards of Netgear.
panqueques Posted December 10, 2008 Author Report Posted December 10, 2008 Both computers are on that router (connected to Cable), but also one computer is on DSL (has 2 connections). The computer with both connections has the DSL as its primary connection. Perhaps µTorrent has a problem with that and isn't checking the second (LAN) connection?
moogly Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 Is it a torrent on private tracker (with DHT enabled) ?
panqueques Posted December 11, 2008 Author Report Posted December 11, 2008 I was using The Pirate Bay at the time I tried to do this.
GTHK Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Does LPD/DHT/PEX come up as not allowed? Maybe you should try disconnecting the PC from the DSL connection and then restarting both µTorrents, I suppose it's possible Windows was sending the join message for LPD the wrong way. Does entering an address manually work? You could use Wireshark to check what's going on.
moogly Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Can you try this tip: In your both uT clients, enable DHT/PEX/LPD, then double-clik on the torrent job and add this announce http://open.tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announceMaybe that will connect your clients between together.
