mattn
On two different occasions I've started downloading, gone to bed, and gotten up the next day to find that the computer has gone to sleep. That feels like a bug. If torrents are active, uTorrent should prevent sleep. I know that I can change the sleep settings in System Preferences, but this should not be necessary, I think... shikhanshu
+1besides, there should be a provision to sleep/shutdown the system after seeding (not just downloading) is done...

Joran
this should not be the default option! If you prevent sleep on a macbook, it can overheat when the lid is shut.+0,
bizzyb0t
@JoranOf course, if you close the lid the app will not be preventing sleep. There are other apps that prevent sleep to prevent data loss but once the lid is closed, it forces it into sleep.
NoOneButMe
You can wake the mac up from sleeping while keeping the lid shut. Just connect an external keyboard/mouse and monitor. But it's not a very good idea for uTorrent to keep it awake when the lid is shut.
thelittlefire
I just use InsomniaX. When closed and un-slept, be sure you're on a heat conductive surface, so the mactop doesn't go nuclear.
godDLL
I think it should be an option, and a default. Also this discussion is now a feature request, I think.
NoOneButMe
Defaulting to changing system behavior is very bad. Preventing sleep while the system is open and when you actively close the lid are two different things. The latter should never be done by an application - it can have real consequences such as damaging hardware.
thelittlefire
Hence my alternative and elaboration
