Jaspe Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 So im using WD external HDD (USB) 500GB as my storage space for torrent files and alike. I've had this drive almost 2 years now since my previous Lacie ext.hdd broke and havent experienced much problems with this until now.couple of months back i started getting "Error: The system cannot find the path specified." error msg on utorrent and bcos hdd was almost full (1gb free) i thought that was the problem and deleted some old files. But now i've started to get this error msg instead "error: the drive cannot find the sector requested" and theres like 12gb free space left. I then decided to run chkdsk to see if WD is finally giving up on me but it went through with no problems. These error msgs usually occured when i inputted multiple torrents to download in a row, could this result in to somekind of problem with usb hdd? Is there any other kind of programs i could verify my ext.hdd's integrity?would it be better idea to download into internal HDD and config utorrent to transfer finished downs to ext.hdd? Also in other note.I recently got 8/1 connection and utorrent worked perfectly but now that i installed newest comodo firewall i only get like little over 300kb/s downloads...upload speed is not effected it is same as before, but down is somewhat hindered by comodo. I browsed this forum and tried few tweaks i found and i got the speed up to 450kb/s or so but thats pretty much all i get nowadays. I have the firewall and Defense+ installed but disabling defense+ doesnt make a difference, i did consider that theres probably just not enough seed but then i added some pretty popular torrents that i had previously downloaded with max speed but i still got only about 450kb/s.i'll post some more info if needed...
moogly Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 USB external devices have some problems sometimes especially when the ext HD is only powered by USB.Anyway if you meet a pbm pf sector, it can be an hardware problem like bad sector. You need to control your ext HD with HDD Regenerator for ex. or another software (try Google). For the dwl maybe it's better to use the int HD then move the files into the ext HD.About your speed question:Set Comodo with uT: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=292343#p292343You need to know your max UL speed, run 4 or 5 times the speed test here http://www.speedtest.net/ then compute your average max UL speed then use this array to set uT:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=34259
Jaspe Posted December 16, 2008 Author Report Posted December 16, 2008 yea i setup my comodo with the rules on that thread but like i said it only increased download from 300kb/s to 450kb/s and before i installed comodo i easily downed about 800kb/s so theres gotta be something other to conf in comodo than those settings in the thread.gonna try run chkdsk and defrags again on that hdd to see if i get any help on those error msg's.
