recover stopped torrents?

I had 12 torrents seeding, but I wasn't getting a ratio reading. I selected all of them & clicked stop to upgrade to 1.8.1. When i clicked play, they all began downloading again. I couldn't figure out how to get them to seed instead, so I allowed the downloads to continue and am now seeding back to try to make up for the loss.

Two are downloading very slowly, though, and one can't because files are missing from the job--files that I think I have on my computer (It fully downloaded before, and the files are playing fine).

Is there any way that I can seed back the original files?

Also, I'm still not getting a ratio reading, apart from 3, the highest of which is only at 0.117 after about 18 hours.

Any ideas on what's going wrong?
