benrvd Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 When I first ran utorrent, my speeds were great, regularly clocking in over 85 kb/s. Lately, though, they've been having trouble getting over 5 kb/s. I haven't adjusted any of the main settings. However, I have heard of internet companies monitoring usage and restricting those with large flows of data. Is this what has likely happened to me? Is there a way around this, or can I count on utorrent running at this slow speed always? Thanks.
thelittlefire Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Your ISP shape based upon a time schedule, or over a quota of bandwidth used?? You could check their pages online and check for an acceptable use or fair usage policy? The best way to find out is to ask them.
benrvd Posted December 19, 2008 Author Report Posted December 19, 2008 Well I also ran uTorrent Port Checker. Before, whenever I ran it, it would show a green highlight as everything was okay. Now, when I run it, it reads: Error! Port "12455" does not appear to be open" or any other port number I try. At the bottom it reads, "Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com (72.20.34.145) in either of those programs. Those of you using ipfilter.dat should make sure the list does not include the website's IP. After making sure of this, re-run this test by refreshing the page (F5)." I don't have either of those programs running (at least I don't think I do. Is there a setting I can change here?
